WHAT'S COLLEGE LIKE?

Bridgemary Community Sports College
Subjects:
AS Dance, Textiles, Physical Ed, BTEC Dance

I chose St Vincent mainly because of the dance department.  Dance is what I want to do and when I came to the open days.  I enjoyed it and the teachers made it fun.  I have taken part in many dance shows at college and other places, everyone gets along and the atmosphere overall is relaxed and friendly.

The Performing Arts Academy

In choosing to study performing arts at St Vincent, you are opting into a curriculum area which has a deserved reputation for some of the finest teaching and facilities in Hampshire.

What is the Performing Arts Academy?

Whether your passion is dance, drama or music, you can be assured of the opportunity to let your talent shine and give yourself the best chance possible of achieving your dreams. Students who wish to pursue a career in the performing arts have the platform to do so through the academy structure and will have timetabled periods available to them to train, study and educate themselves in the performing arts.

What does the Academy offer?

Academy students are tutored/directed by experienced performing arts specialists and will receive first rate teaching and advice during their time at the college.

Academy members will benefit from the expertise of our dedicated careers and higher education department, who are committed to ensuring that the academy members make informed and relevant choices about what they do after college.

Our track record of getting students into higher education to study performance related subjects is long established and a number of former students have gone on to work professionally in the industry, on stage and on screen.

As an academy member you will have access to a variety of high quality enrichment opportunities to build an extensive skills-based programme.

As an academy member you will also have the opportunity to perform in regular shows in the College Studio Theatre and at other local professional venues, widening your performing experience. There will also be the opportunity to attend summer schools to further your training during the summer holidays.

Professional Approach

The college boasts a 150-seat, fully equipped theatre where you will perform on a regular basis.

The performing arts block also has state of the art dance and drama studios, as well as a purpose–built music suite with recording studios and rehearsal rooms.

The college has a close working relationship with Gosport’s Arts Development Officer and our students regularly get involved with local events such as Sound Fabric – a competition for young composers and Alive and Kicking, Gosport’s very own carnival.
