The following information is intended to assist you in completing the application form for assistance from the St Vincent College Learner Support Fund. 

Please read it carefully, along with the Terms and Conditions.

Applications should be received by the Finance Office within 2 weeks of the course starting.

Eligibility

 Students in receipt of the ALG are not eligible to apply for assistance from the LSF

Applications will only be considered from students who are in receipt of, or are dependant on someone in receipt of a means tested benefit, including Working Tax Credit.  Proof of benefit will be required, eg a copy of the benefit confirmation letter.  Alternatively, please ask Job Centre Plus or the Benefits Agency to stamp the box on page 2 of the application form.

 Students following a HE course will not be eligible to apply for assistance for the Learner Support Fund.

 Eligible students will be entitled to:

1. A lunch voucher, for personal use only, up to the value of £3.00 daily towards the cost of a meal from the College cafeteria (where applicable)
2. Financial Support of up to £150 per term which you may use for one or more of the following:
   • a bus pass if living outside the pre-determined area
   • refund of the cost of ferry tickets for students travelling from Portsmouth
   • books and equipment from the College shop for personal use only
   • contribution towards College trips/visits
   • examination fees/course fees (where applicable)
   • the cost of travel to Work Placement
3. The Student Welfare Officer will consider financial assistance for individual cases of extreme hardship.  Proof of hardship will be required.
