STUDENTS & STAFF DIP INTO THEIR POCKETS FOR PUDSEY - Friday, November 20, 2009
St Vincent students have raised almost £1,000 for Children in Need during the colleges' Charities Day.
The mastermind behind the St Vincent’s was Student Support Manager, Clare Powell. Clare has taken on the job of compacting the usual charity week into a charity day.
Clare said ‘It was a very ambitious task to put it all in one day, however I believe that it has paid off as we have raised almost £1,000 for Children in Need.’
With students helping to organise events such as the Modern Warfare 2 competition the burden was taken of off Clare slightly but still the day heavily relied on her organising events and challenges.
With this being the first year for it being done in one day she wanted to ‘re-invigorate fundraising,’ and encourage the students to participate more and ultimately raise more money for Children in Need. Clare later participated the student vs. staff challenge on the assault course.
Clare said is extremely pleased with the contribution made by staff and students. ‘I am really grateful for all the help I have received from staff and students and would like to thank them all very much.’
Clare added: ‘The weather may be damp but our spirits have been very sunny.’
