Principal's Message
Accept the challenge! – be the best!

A Message from Steve Wain, Principal of St Vincent College

Welcome to the St Vincent College website. I am delighted that you have decided to consider us seriously and by browsing this website you will be able to see just what tremendous opportunities studying at St Vincent will give you.

If you decide to come to St Vincent you will find yourself in a college which will challenge you academically, with teachers and personal tutors committed to taking good care of you. In addition, you will also find a stimulating environment both intellectually and socially.

St Vincent is a friendly college with some of the best teachers in the business – a fact which has been backed up by Ofsted, who noted in their most recent report that 80% of the lessons observed at the college were ‘good or better’.

Sixth form colleges have a deserved national reputation for ensuring students maximise their potential in terms of the grades, but, just as importantly, are fully prepared for the challenges of university and employment. At St Vincent you can be part of that ‘sixth form’ culture which cherishes and nurtures excellence on all fronts.

Our Academy structure has been designed to ensure students can maximise their potential whatever their talent. The Sixth Form Academy underlines the college’s proven track record with extending our brightest and best students, while the Performing Arts, Visual & Media and Sports Academies are dedicated to excellence in their respective fields.

Likewise, if you have a physical disability or learning difficulty we are also committed to ensuring that you are treated fairly and the college will make any adjustments we can to ensure you are not put at a disadvantage. In terms of learning support St Vincent is seen as a beacon of excellence.

You have an important decision to make in the coming months and we are committed to helping you to make the best decision for you personally. Take our challenge and choose St Vincent: in doing so you will have taken the first step on a road which leads to success.

I wish you well in your future and look forward to seeing you at St Vincent next year.
