The Learning Centre

St Vincent College is a well resourced college. Below are listed just some of the fantastic facilities available to students to help them make the most of college.

The Learning Centre

The College Learning Centre is a welcoming and attractive environment which offers a number of study and learning opportunities. These include:

  • A comprehensive range of materials to support learning in all courses, including books, videos/DVDs, cdroms and journals
  • Open access computer areas for research using online sources, or for the production of assignment documentsesources40 Prospectus 2009/10
  • Professionally qualified and experienced staff who are happy to assist with your research by helping you find and use the most relevant information sources. They also provide induction and research sessions to help you develop your information skills.
  • Multi-media equipment for viewing videos/DVDs or listening to audio materials.
  • Study areas for group work where you can share ideas, or work with other students on a project. There is also a silent zone, with computers and individual study tables, where you can work without distractions.
Computing Services

As a student at St Vincent, you will have access to our five state-of-the-art IT suites and 300-plus work stations located both in the IT suites and scattered across the campus. You have open access to the suites and other locations from 8.30am - 9pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

No matter what you are studying you will be able to access your own user account, which will allow you to surf the net, send e-mails and develop your own web pages.

You can access class and revision notes, assignment titles and past exam questions through the College Virtual Learning Environment.

The network has been extensively restructured, and now operates in a manner very similar to that which would be found in a university. Each suite has a fast laser printer, with additional peripherals in selected locations such as: colour printers, scanners, digital cameras, a digital video editing suite, projection equipment and an interactive whiteboard.

College Shop

The College shop is situated to the left of the Library in the middle of the vending machines and is open at break times and lunchtimes offering a range of books and materials at the best prices around. The College shop is run by students who are always happy to help you with your purchases.
