What is the course about (aims)

The aim is to learn how to converse in simple terms:-
Basic everyday situations such as ordering food and drinks, finding your way around, changing money, booking a hotel, how to get help if sick or injured whilst on holiday, shopping, 24 hr timetables, the weather, numbers to a 100, the alphabet and how to pronounced French clearly and be understood. All this will run in conjunction with French and Francophile culture. Basic grammar and verbs will also be covered as they arise. The idea is to have fun and learn and to enjoy speaking French and the culture.

Do I need specific equipment?

All students will need a lever arch file, clear plastic sheets to put work in, pens and spare paper, a French mini dictionary is also advised.

How will I learn?

The teacher will supply the course material with printed sheets. There will be class discussions and role plays in order to “try out” newly acquired French. Games will also be played.

Will there be homework?

Yes, there will be between 30 mins to an hour of homework per week.

Will there be additional costs?

No – Students will be advised at the first class of any books/materials which may have to be purchased.

How will my progress be recorded?

Your tutor will work with you to assist in the completion of an Individual Learning Plan. This is a flexible working document agreed between the learner and the tutor. It will be used to record your progress and it will be reviewed and updated within the duration of the course.
