Adult education course felt making

What is the course about (aims)

Have you ever wondered how felt is made? This craft is thousands of years old, dating back to around 6,500 BCE. Felt-making pre-dates weaving and knitting and this fabric can be made quite easily and quickly. A piece of felt can be transformed into a range of items such as a beautiful piece of art, a bag or a scarf. We can also make jewellery or bowls from felt. All you need is fleece and your imagination!

What you will learn:

  • Materials and equipment for felting at home
  • Basic felting techniques
  • Adding and experimenting with decorative elements
  • Felt jewellery and bowls

How will my progress be recorded?

Your tutor will work with you to assist in the completion of an Individual Learning Plan. This is a flexible working document agreed between the learner and the tutor. It will be used to record your progress and it will be reviewed and updated within the duration of the course.
