Humanities courses St Vincent College

This Part 2 course builds upon the story of Gosport’s development covered in Part 1, although students do not need to have attended Part 1 as the topics in Part 2 stand on their own merit. It is not meant to be a chronological history, as students will be interested in different aspects of the town’s character, history, independence and vitality. So the course will focus on a range of relevant themes.

What will I discover?

Gosport has a great deal of history to explore! We will look at aspects of social and cultural changes through time and consider various topics which will include:

  • Royal Clarence Yard-Feeding the Forces
  • Healthy Gosport
  • Leisure and Pleasure
  • Lee on the Solent
  • Going to School
  • Some Gosport Celebrities
  • Keeping the Sabbath

No prior knowledge is necessary – just an interest in local history and the origins of the community in which you live.
