Course outline:

This is a full time course and will be your whole timetable. You will also have the opportunity to improve your Maths and English alongside this course.

Course Structure:

This course is assessed through external assessment as well as internally assessed coursework tasks.

Unit 1 – Leading Sport Safely and Effectively
(Externally assessed mandatory unit)
Unit 2 – Working in Sport and Activity Leadership
(Externally assessed mandatory unit)
Unit 3 – Leading Sport and Physical Activity
(Internally assessed mandatory unit)
Unit 4 – Coaching Sport (Internally assessed mandatory unit)
Unit 5 – Developing Skills for Sport and Activity Leadership
(Internally assessed mandatory unit)
Unit 6 – Getting Others Active Outdoors
(Internally assessed optional unit)
Unit 8 – Delivering a Sports Activity Event
(Internal synoptic assessment mandatory unit)

You must also take part in the NCS programme as part of your course, this is compulsory and contributes towards your BTEC grade.

If you gain a Merit overall and passed Maths and English qualifications, then you can progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport course.

    Minimum entry requirements:

    Five GCSEs Level 2 or above, or a Distinction for the BTEC Introductory Diploma in Sport (or similar Level 1 qualification)

    • This is a full time course in its own right. Students who are yet to gain a Level 4 in English and/or Maths will need to resit those GCSEs alongside this course
    • You will learn a wide variety of sports within lessons, as well as have the opportunity to play in one of the College sports teams

    • ICT skills, as all coursework will be Word processed
    • You will also learn how to use PowerPoint and Publisher
    • You will learn a variety of research skills as well as how to work in a group and as an individual
