This Level 3 study programme gives you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge to help you identify and prepare for a career in the Uniformed Services, such as Army, Royal Navy, RAF, Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigade and Prison Service.

Unit 11 – Skills for Water-based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
Unit 17 – Police Powers in the Public Services
Unit 6 – Fitness Testing and Training for the Uniformed Public Services
Unit 9 – Outdoor and Adventurous Expeditions
Unit 13 – Command and Control in the Uniformed Unit Public Services
Unit 14 – Responding to Emergency Service Incidents
Unit 15 – Planning and Management of Major Incidents
Unit 21 – Custodial Care Services
Unit 24 – Current and Media Affairs in Public Services
Unit 30 – Practical Team Sports
Unit 32 – Instructing Physical Activities and Exercise
Two years (You must complete all Year 1 units in order to progress to Year 2)
Minimum entry requirements:
Five GCSEs at Level 4 – 9, or a Merit for the Level 2 Diploma in Public Services (or similar Level 2 qualifications), a Level 4 at GCSE and the support of your tutors
This is a full time course in its own right. Students who are yet to gain a Level 4 in English and/or Maths will need to resit those GCSEs alongside this course
A range of enrichment opportunities will be available to include as part of your timetable such as Fitness Boot-Camp, Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze, Silver and Gold), Football team, Netball team, Archery and many more.

Likely next step opportunities:
On successful completion of this study programme, you can apply for a wide range of public sector occupations, including posts in the Armed Forces, Emergency Forces, Coastguard and Prison Service. Alternatively, you can progress onto a relevant Higher Education programme.
This will be a mixture of external examinations and internal coursework assessments
Uniform: All students are required to purchase the course uniform which includes a Navy polo shirt, Black belt, Navy trousers and Black boots (product list provided during enrolment). Must be worn during weekly inspections and college events.
NCS Week: This involves activities such as Coasteering, Surfing, High Ropes, Lazar-tag, followed by a social action project. This is compulsory.
