GCSE Biology is the study of living organisms and their structure, life‐cycles, adaptations and environment. A good qualification for those considering a career in health or applied sciences.

How is the course assessed?
This qualification is linear. Linear means that students will sit two 1 hour 45 minute exams at the end of the course.
These exams will cover the following:
Exam 1 ‐ Cell biology, organization, infection & response, bioenergetics.
Exam 2 ‐ Homeostasis, inheritance, variation & evolution, ecology.
There will also be 10 compulsory practicals throughout the duration of the course.
Are there any opportunities for progression?
You may require the GCSE Biology qualification to enter employment in Teaching, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Sport and Fitness, or Health and Social Care. The GCSE is also a requirement of many Level 3 science related courses, as well as many University Degrees.
Equipment or Materials:
Please do not purchase any books, equipment or materials before this course commences. Your teacher will advise you what is required on your first evening.
