This course is ideal for the following professions:
Health & Social Care workers;
Support staff;
Job Seekers;
and anyone wishing to develop their counselling, communication and interpersonal skills.
Successful completion of the course will lead to a Certificate in Counselling Skills awarded by ABC –

Participants on the course can expect to learn much about the theory, practice and history of counselling skills and also to learn about themselves and their responses to encounters with others. Learners are required to maintain and produce a portfolio to demonstrate and evidence their learning from the course.

Much of the learning will be experimental, which means that the group members experiences and interests will act as a major learning resource.

There are 4 modules to the course:
Understanding the context for the use of counselling skills.
Understanding counselling theory.
Using counselling skills.
Personal development for users of counselling skills.

Who teaches the course

The tutor team will be Simon Halford and Jeff Lane who are both experienced counsellors, therapists, facilitators and trainers. They have been running certificate level courses in counselling skills at St Vincent College since 1998.

Interviews will be held in August/September 2016.

Duration: 28 weeks
