Are you picking up a guitar for the first time?
Interested in learning guitar for your own pleasure, to play at home and relax?
Do you want to learn how to play your favourite songs in a positive and fulfilling environment?
This course is suitable for those with no previous knowledge of guitar, but also for those who may have begun to teach themselves and lost their motivation to play.
What is the course about (aims)
You will learn everything you need to know to fulfil your musical potential. Learn at your own pace and in a style that suits you.
Taught in easy stages; reading of music, right and left hand techniques, basic chords and melodies etc, enabling the student to entertain themselves or to prepare them for perhaps joining a group.
Course outline (outcomes)
The outcome of the course will be an understanding of music, mastery of left and right fingering, picking and strumming techniques, chord construction, as well as tuning procedure and general instrument care.
I need specific equipment?
The student will require a:
• 6-string guitar;
• set of spare strings;
• guitar tuner;
• pen and paper for taking extra notes.
If you do not own a 6‐string guitar, we can provide one for you.
How will I learn?
The content will include all aspects of acoustic guitar playing (this is not a suitable course for electric guitar). Explore basic chords, melodies, rhythms and timing. The styles will cover:
• from rock and roll to heavy metal;
• jazz funk to soul, and
• modern day pop.
How will my progress be recorded?
Your tutor will work with you to assist in the completion of a Learner Progress Sheet. This is a flexible working document agreed between the learner and the tutor. It will be used to record your progress and it will be reviewed and updated within the duration of the course.
