Apprenticeships/Work Based Learning NVQs


Hairdressing is a busy, creative fashion and people-centred industry. Those
who typically succeed are creative and energetic individuals with artistic flair. A good hairdresser needs to be able to keep up-to-date with the latest hair fashion trends and have a creative flair to develop new ideas.

An Apprenticeship or stand-alone Work Based Learning NVQs are a great way to combine learning with working. You can develop your practical skills and knowledge in the workplace and at College whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification enabling you to succeed in your chosen career.

St Vincent College offers the following stand-alone WBL NVQs:

Level 2 Level 3
Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing

St Vincent College offers two levels of Apprenticeship:

Intermediate Level 2 Advanced Level 3
Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing
Functional Skills – English and Maths Functional Skills – English and Maths
Employment Rights & Responsibility (ERR) Employment Rights & Responsibility
(ERR)
Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS) Personal Learning & Thinking Skills

The time taken to complete the programme will depend on the ability of the learner and the employer’s requirements. On average, an Intermediate Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2, will take one year to complete, an Advanced Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 will take two years. Time on programme will be discussed at interview stage.
