Spreadsheets – Beginners
This Introductory Microsoft Excel training course will introduce you to the basic skills needed to use Microsoft Excel. It starts with the key skills of how to create workbooks and worksheets and navigate around them. It then introduces how to use some of Excel’s basic features and finishes off by showing you time saving features. There are no tests, you will learn at your own pace in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The course is structured in a flexible manner in order to meet the needs of the individual.
A spreadsheet is an easy and quick way to keep a record of your household expenses or investments, business expenses and stock and sales records. You can use it to work out your VAT or keep a running balance of your bank account.
Who is the course for?
This course does not require any previous experience of using Microsoft Excel. It assumes a basic understanding of Windows, including an ability to work with multiple windows and navigate the desktop, as well as having an understanding of computer file storage (i.e. drives, files and folders).
What will the course cover?
In particular you will be able to:
Create, save, close, open and print spreadsheets.
Insert and delete rows or columns in your spreadsheet.
Enter and format data and text in a spreadsheet.
Insert basic formulas to add, subtract, divide and multiply spreadsheet data.
Sort large spreadsheets of data into order and filter it to show only the data you need.
Create charts from inputted data and format or alter the appearance of a chart.
What equipment do I need to bring to the first class?
A set of course notes will be provided but please bring a pen, notebook and a memory stick.
How will my progress be recorded?
Your tutor will work with you to assist in the completion of a Learner Progress Sheet. It will be used to record your progress and it will be reviewed and updated within the duration of the course.
