What is the course about (aims)
The aim of the course is that you will be able to further your knowledge of Spanish vocabulary and grammar and maintain a brief conversation about yourself and your environment, your daily routine, leisure and travel, the media, the world of work, sports, festivals and traditions. Also you will be able to cope with everyday situations such as travel, health food and shopping.
Are there specific requirements for joining?
Having done Spanish Beginners and Improvers or having equivalent knowledge, including present, past and future tenses (although not essential).
Will there be additional costs?
Students will be advised at the first class of any books/materials which may have to be purchased, however see below.
Do I need specific equipment or clothes?
Only the textbook (Espaňol Mundial 2, Third Edition – Hodder Education).
Course outline (outcomes)
Students will be able to converse in simple terms and use different verb tenses when talking about yourself and your environment, your daily routine, leisure and travel, the media, the world of work, sports, festivals and traditions. Also they will be able to deal with everyday situations such as going to the doctor’s/chemist’s and explaining an ailment, ordering food at a restaurant, shopping for clothes and organising their holidays in Spain.
How will I learn?
By listening to CDs in class (provided by the teacher), interacting with the teacher and other students to practise the vocabulary and structures learnt in class, by doing reading comprehension activities and writing exercises in class and for homework.
How will my progress be recorded?
Your tutor will work with you to assist in the completion of an Individual Learning Plan. This is a flexible working document agreed between the learner and the tutor. It will be used to record your progress and it will be reviewed and updated within the duration of the course.
Will there be homework? If so, how many hours?
Yes, about two hours per week.
