Microsoft Excel is one of the most commonly used spreadsheet programmes, used in businesses for customer data and accounting purposes. Having proven skills in this software will demonstrate to employers that you have had practical, hands-on experience. On a personal level, spreadsheets are an easy way to keep a record of your household expenses or investments, business expenses and stock and sales records. You can use it to work out your VAT if self-employed or keep a running balance of your bank account.

This course will give you confidence in your ability to navigate your way around the software with ease. There are no tests, you will learn at your own pace in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The course is structured in a flexible manner in order to meet the needs of the individual.


Who is the course for?

This course presumes a basic understanding of Excel or has attended the Spreadsheet Introductory level course. It is intended to advance your skills and confidence with the package.

What will the course cover?

You will learn the more advanced features and functions in Excel, including:
Calculating An Average.
Finding A Maximum and Minimum Value.
Using advanced functions like COUNTA etc.
Using the IF, AND, OR Formulas.
Using Conditional Formatting to make data clearer.
Linking data Between Worksheets and workbooks.
An introduction to Pivot tables and Spark lines.

What equipment do I need to bring to the first class?

A set of course notes will be provided but please bring a pen, notebook and a memory stick.

How will my progress be recorded?

Your tutor will work with you to assist in the completion of a Learner Progress Sheet. It will be used to record your progress and it will be reviewed and updated within the duration of the course.
