Functional Skills English and Maths Tutor

This position is temporary/part time and available immediately
Hours of work are TBC but approximately 15 hours per week (to include travelling time) flexible delivery throughout the year

Salary: £22.73 per hour

    The post holder will hold a full teaching qualification and will have previous experience of delivering functional skills ideally via blended learning. The role will primarily be to provide support to apprenticeship learners who require English & Maths level 1 & 2 and use the college’s IT drop-in facility to complete the online programme leading to qualifications

    There will be a requirement for the post holder to travel to Out Reach points to deliver to apprentices that are based out of area. The post will also require liaison with awarding organisations, including City & Guilds, to complete required registration, accreditation and audit processes

    Driving licence and own car essential

    The School of Personalised Learning (formerly titled the Learning Support Unit) are seeking to appoint experienced and highly motivated teachers to join our specialist team of professionals. Working with students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LDD) and Behaviour, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) the successful candidates will form a key part of the range of services to support their education and preparation for adulthood.

    Due to continuing growth in this highly successful department we are specifically interested in applicants who can deliver English, maths and deliver courses to students with severe learning difficulties and disabilities.

SEN & HIGH NEEDS FUNDING MANAGER

    This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the college’s provision for learners with Special Educational Needs. The School of Personalised Learning provides specialist education and support for 175+ young people aged 16-25 with moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities. Disabilities include physical and medical, communication and language as well as social, emotional and behaviour difficulties.

    The postholder will:
    1. Lead and manage processes relating to Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews, high needs funding and the recruitment/transition of students
    2. Ensure effective consultation with students, parents/carers and key professionals in completing these processes
    3. Lead financial claims for high needs funding and effectively collaborate with local authorities to ensure appropriate provision is identified and resourced in order to support student need
    4. Coordinate Individual Training Programmes (ITPs) for students with individualised learning programmes, in liaison with curriculum leaders.

    This role will involve managing and working within a successful team in a fast paced and vibrant learning environment. We are seeking to employ a highly motivated individual who has relevant experience of leading high needs funding processes, ECHPs/annual reviews and has extensive knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice. The role will require some working over the summer months to meet high needs funding deadlines.

    The St Vincent College Learning Support Unit (LSU) provides education for students aged 16 to 25 years who have a variety of medical, communication, physical and learning difficulties, ranging from moderate to severe / profound.

    We offer quality education in a caring atmosphere and require enthusiastic and experienced staff that can support and facilitate learning, supervise and provide personal care for students.
    As well as needing great communication skills and the ability to use your initiative, you will also require a great sense of humour and the ability to work as part of a team.

    Our Learning Support Assistants work in close partnership with class teachers to promote learning for all students. Some experience of working on intervention programmes with individuals and small groups of students would be of benefit.

    We are looking for someone who has the following attributes:

Adult Education Tutors

Hours of work: Classes vary in length from 2 – 3 hours per week and usually run between 4 – 30 weeks.

Hourly Rate: Community and Level 2 accredited courses: £22.73 per hour

    Adult Education Tutors required to deliver a range of community learning classes and accredited qualifications, including English and Maths Functional Skills.

    Classes run term-time throughout the week, daytime and evenings from our main college site in Mill Lane and daytime at community venues across Gosport, including the Nimrod Centre in Rowner.

    Applicants should have a minimum of Level 3 Award in Education and Training for community classes, or a full teaching qualification and at least Level 3/4 in their specialist subject for accredited courses. Assessors for Vocational Work-Based Learning Qualifications

    Qualified Assessors required for a range of qualifications including Business Administration, Early Years Educator (EYE), Health & Social Care, Hairdressing, Supporting Teaching & Learning, and TAQA

    Assessors must have experience of assessment and delivery, and preferably have achieved one of the qualifications in the area(s) they will be assessing (NVQ or Diploma). Evidence of assessment and delivery of NVQs/QCF certificates/diplomas is essential, and this, together with qualifications held, current practice, occupational competence and up to date CPD will be requested at interview.

    Essential requirements:

    – D32/33 or A1/TAQA L3 Qualification (Assessor Qualification)
    – Occupational expertise relevant to the units they would be assessing
    – Occupational competence – be able to carry out the full requirements within the competency units being assessed
    – Occupational knowledge for areas in which they are assessing
    – Experience in training and assessment
    – Evidence of maintaining their own occupational competence and knowledge in continuing learning and professional development
