Administration Assistant for
Learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

    We are seeking to employ an Administration Assistant to provide administrative support to the Learning Support Department of the College. This is a vibrant and busy part of college services in which you will be required work in an environment with students with a range of special educational and care needs.

    You will work under the direction of the SEN & High Needs Funding Manager and Senior Administration Officer, liaising with staff, students, parents, carers and external agencies. You will be required to assist with the day to day administrative tasks to support the functions and legal duties of our specialist provision.

    Proposed working hours are Monday-Friday from 10:30am-4pm (inclusive of a 30 minute break). Prior administrative experience or working in an educational setting with young people is desirable.

Adult and Higher Education Department Core Skills English and Maths Tutor

This position is temporary/part time and available immediately
Hours of work are TBC but approximately 15 hours per week (to include travelling time) flexible delivery throughout the year

    The post holder should hold a full teaching qualification and have previous experience of delivering core skills, including via blended learning. The role will primarily be to provide support to apprenticeship learners who require English & Maths at Entry Level to Level 2 and may use the college’s IT drop-in facility to complete an online programme leading to qualifications

    There will also be a requirement for the post holder to travel to Out Reach centres to deliver to apprentices based out of area. The post holder will need to liaise regularly with the Core Skills Manager to ensure completion of required registration, accreditation and audit processes

    Driving licence and own car essential
    Mileage can be claimed from the College outwards

Adult Education Tutors

We are continuing to recruit Adult Education Tutors to deliver a range of community learning classes and accredited qualifications, including English and Maths Functional Skills

Classes vary in length from 2-3 hours per week, and usually run from 4 weeks to 30 weeks.

Hourly rate: Community and Level 2 accredited courses = £22.73 per hour
Level 3 accredited courses = £30.95 per hour
(To include planning, delivering and assessment where relevant)

    Classes run term-time throughout the week, daytime and evenings from our main college site in Mill Lane and daytime at community venues across Gosport, including the Nimrod Centre, Rowner.

    Applicants should have a minimum of Level 3 Award in Education and Training for community classes, or a full teaching qualification and at least Level 3/4 in their specialist subject for accredited courses. Ideally they should also have experience of delivering classes to adult learners.

Learning Support Assistant

    The St Vincent College Learning Support Unit (LSU) provides education for students aged 16 to 25 years who have a variety of medical, communication, physical and learning difficulties, ranging from moderate to severe / profound.

    We offer quality education in a caring atmosphere and require enthusiastic and experienced staff that can support and facilitate learning, supervise and provide personal care for students.
    As well as needing great communication skills and the ability to use your initiative, you will also require a great sense of humour and the ability to work as part of a team.

    Our Learning Support Assistants work in close partnership with class teachers to promote learning for all students. Some experience of working on intervention programmes with individuals and small groups of students would be of benefit.

Bank Event Staff

    We are looking to recruit Event Staff to assist in the preparation and hosting of Events on the St Vincent College Campus.

    Duties include:
    • Taking part in the set-up of events as well as arranging or building event structures, furniture and equipment
    • Carrying our bar and catering duties (pouring drinks, serving food, collecting and washing glasses and plates)
    • Supervising activities and ensuring the event is clean and safe
    • First Aid responsibilities will be part of the role at all events
    • Handling money and using a till system, cashing up as the end of the event/function
    • Liaising with the event security team to ensure any potential issues are dealt with in a proactive and professional manner
    • Interacting with the Public in a polite and, when required, firm manner
    • Taking part in the take down of events, packing away and stowing event structures/furniture and equipment

    Previous experience within the hospitality industry is preferable but not essential.

    Assessors must have experience of assessment and delivery, and preferably have achieved one of the qualifications in the area(s), they will be assessing (NVQ or Diploma). Evidence of assessment and delivery of NVQs/QCF certificates/diplomas is essential, and this, together with qualifications held, current practice, occupational competence and up to date CPD will be requested at interview.

    Essential requirements:

    • D32/33 or A1/TAQA L3 Qualification (Assessor Qualification)
    • Occupational expertise relevant to the units they would be assessing
    • Occupational competence – be able to carry out the full requirements within the competency units being assessed
    • Occupational knowledge for areas in which they are assessing
    • Experience in training and assessment
    • Evidence of maintaining their own occupational competence and knowledge in continuing learning and professional development
