Science and Maths

Science and Maths is one of the College’s core Curriculum Areas with a staff of 9 forming a highly dedicated team. The team are developing a common approach to assessment and feedback across all courses, and are committed to making use of flipped learning as part of a flexible approach to meeting students’ needs.
Courses delivered within the area are:
• AS/A2 Biology, Chemistry, Physics
• GCSE Biology
• BTEC Applied Science (Level 3)
• AS/A2 Maths, Further Maths and Use of Maths
• GCSE Maths and Certificate in Use of Maths
• AS/A2 Geography
• AS/A2 Psychology
The staff also contribute to a range of other courses across the wide college:
• Adult Ed GCSE Biology; GCSE Maths; GCSE Environmental Studies
• Access Biology and Psychology
• Entry Level Numeracy
• AS Extended Project
• Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
The area is well resourced and supported
• 6 fully equipped laboratories
• 2 classroom sets of laptops
• Extensive resources on Moodle (VLE) for all courses
• Data projectors in all classrooms
• 2 science technicians


All staff take part in arrange of CPD and liaison activities
• Annual maths challenge for local schools
• Regular subject based meetings – for local schools and for Hampshire colleges
