What is the course about (aims)
Have you always wanted to research your family history but don’t know where to start? Or have you started and got stuckwhere do you go next? This introductory course will help you plan a comprehensive strategy, and signpost you to the wealth of information sources available. These will include paper based as well as online resources, and ensuring that you use free resources first!
What you will learn:
- Websites to use: pros and cons
- Where to find free information
- Census, adoption, religious and workhouse records
- How to obtain Birth, Marriage and Death certificates
- How to record information, online or on paper in folders
Do I need specific equipment or clothes?
Will there be additional costs?
All you need to bring is pen and paper and what you have found out so far!
How will my progress be recorded?
Your tutor will work with you to assist in the completion of an Individual Learning Plan. This is a flexible working document agreed between the learner and the tutor. It will be used to record your progress and it will be reviewed and updated within the duration of the course.
