The world of business offers a huge variety of careers and opportunities. This course is ideal for students with an interest in business, employment or going on to level 3 study. It includes learning about how businesses are developed, how they work, and how they make a profit. We also explore aspects of personal and professional finance, marketing, law and recruitment.

BUSINESS BTEC

LEVEL 3 SINGLE/EXTENDED DIPLOMA

Course Description:

The world of business offers a huge variety of careers and opportunities. You can choose to do either single Business (equivalent to one A level) or the extended diploma (equivalent to three A levels, a fulltime course). The extended diploma is ideal for students with a keen interest in business, how they are developed, how they work and how they make a profit. Students on the extended diploma may wish to go into employment, study business at university or go on to create their own businesses. The single Business is suitable for students who wish to learn about business alongside other subjects such as sociology and criminology.

ICT AND COMPUTING BTEC

LEVEL 2 TECHNICAL AWARD

Course Description:

This OCR Level 2 qualification is designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. They give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment. The qualifications also provide career development opportunities for those already in work. 

 

This is a practical, work-related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It introduces you to the IT sector and provides a good basis to progress on to more advanced work-related qualifications.

ICT AND COMPUTING BTEC

LEVEL 3 EXTENDED

Course Description:

This qualification will help you to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills regarding the principles of IT and Global Information Systems. It will give you an insight into the IT sector while you learn about the technological changes occurring in our society, in terms of IT infrastructure and the global flow of information, as well as the legal and security aspects which governs the use of technology. This course is the first year of a 2 year study programme which encompasses a wide range of centre assessed units with practical and wider project-based assessment opportunities, as well as examined units on the Fundamentals of IT, Global Information, Cyber Security, and Cloud Technology. You will be able to demonstrate skills such as: writing specifications, and the design, the build, the testing as well as the implementation of applications. Further transferable skills include communication, problem solving, time management, research and analytical skills. This qualification will initially enable you to progress on to the second year of the course (Extended Diploma) with the aim to progress either on to university or the employment sector.

LAW BTEC

LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE

Course Description:

You will investigate the professional and lay people involved in the legal system and will consider the conduct required of the professionals involved.  You will also learn about the distinction between criminal and civil law, and the way in which both civil and criminal justice operates in England and Wales. This will involve following the processes in both a criminal and a civil case which will highlight areas of importance, such as bail, and the necessity to prove a claim. This will enable you to understand the terminology and appreciate the processes that operate in the system. i

LAW BTEC

LEVEL 3 EXTENDED CERTIFICATE

Course Description:

This course will give you an introduction to the court structure – both civil and criminal, the ways in which Laws are made and elements of substantive civil and criminal law in the form of negligence and non-fatal offences against the person.
