Course Summary
You will be taught in a well-equipped workshop with all the up-to-date resources associated with this type of course. You will have the opportunity to use this equipment to develop your skills in Carpentry and Joinery. You will be closely tutored in all aspects of the course.
Safety is a prime objective and you will be expected to provide suitable safety footwear.
Key Topics
Carpentry, including building methods, first fixing, second fixing, structural carcassing and maintenance. You will also cover aspects of Health and Safety issues and how to maintain good working relationships, both with colleagues and customers. You will be trained by an experienced tradesperson in our purpose-designed Construction Centre.
Assessment
There are no formal qualifications needed for a Level 1 study programme, just a willingness to learn and enthusiasm to develop your aspirations.
Progression
Level 2 Carpentry courses, apprenticeships or employment.

English and maths will be part of your study programmme if you have not already achieved a GCSE grade 4 or a Functional Skills level 2.
