Maths- Functional Skills

Course Summary

This course aims to strengthen our adult learners core skills. Maths is greatly valued by employers, and is also beneficial to future careers, everyday life and personal money management.

This is a roll on and roll off course with start dates in September, January and April.

This is a 12 week course and will be delivered in person or online. This course is free subject to meeting eligibility criteria such as being aged 19 years or older.

Key Topics

Throughout the course you will cover maths topic such as; decimals, fractions and measurements.

The College requires an attendance rate of at least 90% to enable students to achieve and progress. You will be expected to attend weekly taught lessons either face to face or online. Homework will be given at regular intervals.

Assessment

Your tutor will provide feedback throughout the course, but the formal assessments will be exam based, There are two exams to complete, one non-calculator paper and one calculator exam.

Progression

You can progress onto the next level of Functional skills, another adult education course or GCSE Maths.

Entry Requirements

While there are no strict entry requirements for this qualification, students will need tocomplete initial and diagnostic assessments in English and maths to determine the level of the course.
