Understanding Autism – Certificate

Course Summary

This nationally recognised qualification is designed to develop learners’ understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism. It is ideal for those working or planning to work in education, health and social care, or any role where a deeper awareness of autism is beneficial.This is a 4 month course and will be delivered online.

Key Topics

This qualification aims to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of:

  • The concept of autism and how it affects individuals in different ways
  • The impact of autism on communication, social interaction, and sensory processing
  • How to support individuals with autism in a person-centred and inclusive way

Assessment

Learners enrolled onto this course will be allocated an Assessor/Tutor. All units will be individually internally assessed using a range of assessment methods. Assessment will be Internally Quality Assured (IQA) and Externally Quality Assured (EQA) by the Awarding Organisation.

The different types/methods of assessment will be discussed between student and Assessor/Tutor.

Progression

You can progress onto the next level of Autism or another adult education course.

Entry Requirements

While there are no strict entry requirements for this qualification, students will need to complete initial and diagnostic assessments in English and maths to determine the level of the course.
