Understanding Behaviour That Challenges – Certificate

Course Summary

This course covers topics such as the causes and triggers of challenging behaviours, strategies for de-escalation and conflict resolution, and promoting positive behaviour support. Students will explore theoretical perspectives and practical approaches to effectively support individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours in various settings. The course emphasizes the importance of person-centred approaches, empathy, and collaboration with stakeholders to create supportive environments. Completion of this certificate equips learners with valuable competencies to contribute to the well-being and quality of life of individuals with behavioural challenges in health, social care, and educational settings.

This is a 4 month course and will be delivered online. This course is free subject to meeting eligibility criteria such as being aged 19 years or older.

This qualification aims to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of:

  • Understand how to recognise that an individual’s behaviour has the potential to intenisfy
  • Understand legislation and support relevant to behaviour that challenges
  • Understand how to prepare to manage an incident of behaviour that challenges

Assessment

Students enrolled onto this course will be allocated an Assessor/Tutor. All units will be individually internally assessed using a range of assessment methods. Assessment will be Internally Quality Assured (IQA) and Externally Quality Assured (EQA) by the Awarding Organisation.

The different types/methods of assessment will be discussed between student and Assessor/Tutor.

Entry Requirements

While there are no strict entry requirements for this qualification, students will need to complete initial and diagnostic assessments in English and maths to determine the level of the course.
