BTEC Level 2

Course Description

The Level 2 Uniformed Protective Services course provides the ideal stepping stone into a wide range of exciting careers in the uniformed services, including the Army and police force. You will benefit from the expertise of teachers who also have backgrounds in the armed forces and other public services. 

Unit 1 – Teamwork and Communication 

Unit 4 – Improving Health & Fitness 

Unit 5 – Personal Development/OAA 

Uniform: All students are required to purchase the course uniform which includes a Navy polo shirt, Black belt, Navy trousers and Black boots (product list provided during enrolment). Must be worn during weekly inspections and college events. 

NCS Week: This involves activities such as Coasteering, Surfing, High Ropes, Lazar-tag, followed by a social action project. This is compulsory.

  • Orienteering
  • Drill
  • Self-Discipline
  • Leadership and Teamwork

This is a full-time course which includes Functional Skills English and/or Maths if not yet gained Grade 4.

A range of enrichment opportunities such as Boot Camps, Archery, Climbing and Uniform Drill will be available and forms part of enrichment within your timetabled sessions. You will also have the opportunity to represent the college in Football and/or Netball. 

  • The Level 2 course within this pathway are designed for anyone wanting to develop a career in the armed forces or public sector. Once you complete the Level 2 course. You will be able to progress to Level 3Uniformed ProtectiveServices and subsequently study at Higher Education and also towards careers in: 
  • The Prison Service
  • Armed Forces
  • Emergency services: Police, Fire and Ambulance service
  • The Civil Service

Five GCSEs at Grade 2 and above, (or a Merit in a Level 1 qualification and the support of your tutors).

A mixture of external examinations and internal coursework.
