The Level 2 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Sport and Physical Activity qualification aims to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills of the essentials of Sport. Students will gain an insight into the Sport and Physical Activity industry. Designed in collaboration with industry experts the qualifications focus on the requirements that today’s employers demand.

5 GCSEs Grade 2-3.

What students will learn: 

Practical Sport – By completing this unit, learners will develop their skills, techniques and use of tactics/strategies in selected sports, as well as their understanding of the rules and the roles of officials. They will learn how to review a performance and identify areas of strength and weakness.

Anatomy and Physiology for Sport – The aim of this unit is to give learners a basic underpinning knowledge of the function and structure of the systems in the human body, linking to exercise and sporting activities 

Fitness Testing and Training – In this unit learners will learn about the different components of fitness and actively engage in assessing their own fitness and identifying their strengths and weaknesses. Comparing their fitness with national norms and relating it to what is needed to achieve excellence in sport. They will also look at how lifestyle choices have an impact on their fitness and how psychological factors can have an influence on performance, providing the learner with a better understanding of fitness and fitness testing. 

Planning and Leading Sports Activities – By completing this unit learners will develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills to enable them to plan, lead, deliver and review safe and effective sporting activities.

Someone who has an interest in working in sport and physical activity or progressing to L3 Sport.

Repeat Maths and English GCSE and GBFC Centre of Excellence.

If you have already achieved Grade 4 Maths or English GCSE, students can combine this course with L2 Uniformed Protective Services and either Maths or English GCSE.
