School of Personalised Learning (SPL)

EDUCATION FOR ALL

In addition to our higher-level academic programmes, St Vincent College is also one of the south’s leading providers of post-16 education for students who require an adapted curriculum and support due to a range of special educational needs and disabilities. All students are offered meaningful and purposeful work experience throughout their educational journey.

Preparation for Learning

The School of Personalised Learning provides over 200 students with access to a range of creative, exciting, purposeful, and functional courses from pre-entry to level 2.

Based in the heart of our main campus each of the courses available are specifically tailored to the individual learning and support needs of our students who are taught by specialist teachers within highly supported learning environments with state-of-the-art resources and facilities. In addition to our curriculum offer, the College is able to provide medical assistance, support and care with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. We work very closely with local schools and local authorities to ensure the learning and support needs of each student are appropriately met and can provide a range of services to support transition to our learning environment.

Our curriculum offer includes education activities designed to specifically support:

  • Sensory
  • Life Skills
  • Communication
  • Supporting Independence
  • Social Communication

Supporting Progression into Employment

At St Vincent College we are committed to providing meaningful and inspirational opportunities for young people with additional needs which meet the four outcomes outlined by Preparing for Adulthood:

  • Employment
  • Independent Living
  • Community Inclusion
  • Health

Our current provision is being enhanced this year as we are excited to announce that we have been awarded Hampshire SEND Employability Hub status.

The aim of the hub is to provide opportunities for Hampshire young people with an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) to become ready for employment in a safe and supportive environment, encouraging future independence both socially and financially. We are looking to take on a cohort of Year 11 students through a specialist, individualised programme where the outcome is paid employment.

The programme will last between one and three years and will be closely connected to our existing Supported Internship programme offering individual long term work placements, job coaching and extra specialist qualifications as required.

If you are interested in applying to be on our SEND Employability Programme then please contact Sadie Garrie on 02392 603 676 or email sgarrie@stvincent.ac.uk.
